Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a matching gift?
A: You or your spouse may work for a company that has a matching gift program. Thousands of companies and their subsidiaries will match employees gifts to higher education. Some companies will even double or triple your contribution. Contact your Human Resources office to find out if your company has a matching gift program and to obtain the required form. Complete the form and mail it to Annual Giving. We will do the rest. We will credit the amount of the company match to your giving total. To see a list of companies that match gifts, click here.

Q: What ways can I give?
A: Most Annual Fund gifts are in the form of check or credit card payment. You can now also make your contribution online. Other options for gifts to the Annual Fund include monthly automatic bank draft, or, for employees of the University of Arkansas, payroll deduction. For income tax advantages, donors frequently make gifts in the form of appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares.

Q: Why does my gift matter - it is not a major gift?
A: Annual Fund gifts have a tremendous impact. They cover a broad range of immediate needs and maintain the University's academic edge. Every dollar counts. In contrast to small annual gifts, major gifts are usually one time and designated for a specific purpose. They also are often the basis upon which corporations make decisions to give larger gifts. In other words, if it is good enough for the employees to support, it is certainly good enough for the outside company.
